Ashford Hospital is committed to providing excellence in Maternity care.
We have a large number of Obstetricians to choose from and the facilities to back them up. With the exception of Flinders Medical Centre, Ashford Hospital and Flinders Private Hospital have the highest level of care facilities available for both mother and baby, should it be required including a Level 3 Intensive Care Unit and a Level 2B Nursery (the highest levels of private neonatal and adult care available in South Australia). Together with our dedicated and experienced midwives including a recent South Australian Midwife of the Year Award, you can rest assured that you and your baby are in good hands.
Once you have had your baby and the high level of acute services are no longer required, Ashford Hospital offers the 'Ashford Hospital Baby Bliss' program to all new parents. So as long as you have the all clear from your obstetrician and paediatrician, you and your family can spend the remainder of your hospital stay at the Rendezvous Grand Hotel Adelaide with the continued support of a midwife from Ashford Hospital.

Ashford Hospital Baby Bliss
The Ashford Hospital Baby Bliss program, in conjunction with the Rendezvous Grand Hotel Adelaide, offers you and your new family the opportunity to be transferred to the five star Rendezvous Grand Hotel Adelaide for the remainder of your hospital stay if you have had an uncomplicated delivery. Your obstetrician will continue to oversee your care and there is always a midwife from Ashford Hospital on-site 24 hours a day.
Don't worry, we have it covered! There will be no additional out of pocket expenses for your hotel accommodation or the meals provided during your stay at the Rendezvous Grand Hotel Adelaide. However if you choose to upgrade your room or have additional meals delivered, the hotel will be more than happy to discuss these options with you.
This innovative program enables the parents of babies born at Ashford Hospital and their new family to experience excellence in maternity care while enjoying the comforts of the beautiful Rendezvous Grand Hotel Adelaide and of course friends and family are welcome to visit!

Ashford maternity has a long and proud tradition of delivering an excellent service in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Our private delivery and post-natal rooms are fully equipped with the latest technology and also include an en-suite, refrigerator, television and DVD player.
The maternity unit staff are committed to ensuring your birth experience is of the highest standard and aim to ensure you gain confidence and knowledge in the care of your newborn.
Modern Delivery Suites
Ashford Hospital provides comfortable Delivery Rooms to ensure your labour and delivery is a very special time. We encourage you to discuss any individual preferences with your obstetrician prior to delivery.
Delivery Rooms are also fully equipped with the latest technology and each have an en-suite, refrigerator, television and DVD player.
Level 2B Nursery
Ashford Hospital maternity unit facilities include a special care nursery, which is able to provide support for infants from 32 weeks gestation. Level 2B is the highest level of private neonate care available in South Australia. The hospital has the additional reassurance of 24 hour on-site medical cover and an adult intensive care unit in the case of an emergency.
Lactation Support
We understand that there are many things you need to learn about your new baby and the midwives at Ashford Hospital are here to help you. Our midwives advocate breastfeeding, so if you are able to breastfeed we have dedicated support services in place for you. On the Post-natal ward we have Lactation Consultants available for you to support the establishment of breastfeeding. Our New Born support service is also available for when you leave hospital.
Parent Education
Our parent education classes are conducted throughout the year and offer flexible options for attendance including a comprehensive all day Saturday session for busy couples.
